NI are like 10 years past their prime of being the premier synthesizer developer. If I were you I would go for a different developer. I love FM, it's one of the most fun types of synthesis IMO. c'mon NI! I usually use Operator because I'm an Ableton user, but if I weren't I would use FM8 constantly. Another one that could use a GUI facelift. I personally only really use it for Monark, their Minimoog emulation.ĭon't sleep on FM8 - it's a beast. Reaktor is IMO a bit difficult to learn and better suited for people who want to make synths than for people who want to make music. It's a nice supplement to a well rounded collection, but definitely not a synth you'll rely on for doing the bulk of your work. It's my favorite synth from NI, although these days I usually reach for Xfer Serum instead.Ībsynth is a cool and strange synth. It's quite versatile though, it can do so much more than harsh wobbles. Massive is nice but it's a) old - there are newer synths with nicer GUIs and NI themselves are releasing a Massive X in a few months and b) much better value to get as part of their Komplete Select bundle.
